The production process

We are lucky enough to have worked with a wealth of talented professional photographers over our many years in the business. During this time we have formed close relationships and have developed an in depth understanding of our photographer’s styles and visualizations. Working closely with these very gifted and creative people we have selected images to compliment your home and surroundings.

Our specialist traditional darkrooms use the same materials and methods that have been used since the earliest days of photography. Using fine art silver gelatin archival papers, traditional celluloid film, conventional enlargers and chemical baths. With this combination of light, chemistry and years of experience we work our magic!

Our starting point is negative film, shot by our skilled professional photographers. From this we produce stunning images using long-established photographic methods. In our darkrooms we use our years of knowledge and experience to extract the best from each and every negative. This is done through physical manipulation of light, (known in the industry as ‘dodging and burning’). These methods are combined with choosing the best photographic papers and most appropriate chemistry, through which the paper is manually passed using traditional baths. We then wash, dry, flatten and retouch by hand every print in order to achieve the perfect final result. A time-honoured archival method.
